Banded Demoiselle

Distribution: Widely distributed throughout Wiltshire, sometimes found in large numbers (particularly on the river Avon).

Identification: The Banded Demoiselle is very similar to the Beautiful Demoiselle, the males can be distinguished by their wing bands which only occupy the outer half of the wing. The females are much more difficult to separate, but they have a pale stripe on the dorsal midline of their last three abdominal segments, this is much darker in the Beautiful Demoiselle.

County Status: Widespread and often common.
