Distribution: Widespread and reasonably common in Wiltshire, can be found on ponds, lakes, canals and slow flowing rivers.

 

Identification: The Brown Hawker is unmistakable as it is the only large brown hawker to be found in Wiltshire (It can be confused with the rare Norfolk Hawker which is only recorded in East Anglia). The males and females are both similar and have amber wings.

 

County Status: Widespread and common.
