Distribution: Common on lakes, canals and slow flowing rivers. Often abundant where it occurs. Identification: Is likely to be confused with the Azure Damselfly in Wiltshire. The males can be separated by the markings on segment two of the abdomen. The common blue has a black circular mark, whilst the azure has a 'U' shaped black mark. The females are much harder to separate, the Common Blue female has a spine below abdominal segment eight which is missing from the Azure. County Status: Common.. |
