Distribution: Widely distributed in Wiltshire were suitable habitat exists. It prefers small moorland and heathland streams.

Identification: This is one of the largest British species and its striped pattern of gold bands on a black abdomen are diagnostic. The male and female are similar.

County Status: Widespread, but never common.
